The other accusation against him is for complicity in cigarette smuggling, but according to the court at this stage there is not enough evidence for such.
Lawyer Lyubomir Takov, who defends Marin Dimitrov, pointed out that due to Dimitrov's illness he could not stay in the conditions of detention and asked the judges to pay attention to the fact that a medical person from the detention center was present in the courtroom due to his condition. The defense noted that in the last two weeks, former and current heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were questioned and no one mentioned having contact with the accused.
Marin Dimitrov told the court panel that he never engaged in smuggling of anything.
The court considers that there is evidence of a high public danger and medical care can be provided in custody. It became known from the court that, according to a secret witness in the case, it was the accused Marin Dimitrov who sought assistance from employees of the “Customs” Agency. to organize channels.
During the hearing, the prosecution cited a witness who claimed that Dimitrov offered BGN 250,000 for the appointment of Vencislav Kirchev as head of the Main Directorate of the National Police.
