We are still fighting for justice in terms of pay, to eliminate income inequalities, to delete the absurd definition in Bulgaria, with which we describe people who work, but cannot get out of the poverty trap – working poor.

This is what KNSB President Plamen Dimitrov stated in a greeting on the occasion of May 1, published on the website of the trade union organization, BTA reported.

That is why the Central Bank of Ukraine does not stop insisting on income growth in all sectors and spheres that outpaces inflation. We do not stop fighting for the minimum wage to reach the living wage, points out Plamen Dimitrov. In order for all this to happen, in order to take the path of real convergence with the rest of the EU countries, first of all, our country must introduce into its legislation the requirements of the Directive on adequate minimum wages and the promotion of collective bargaining. Joining trade unions unites us around the common goal we all have – a decent life, decent incomes and working conditions, notes the president of KNSB.

"Happy Labor Day, brothers and sisters! Happy holiday to all those who, with their knowledge and skills, support themselves and their families, but also contribute to the development and well-being of society! Today is a holiday. A celebration of the won labor rights, but also a day to take stock of how much is yet to be achieved," Plamen Dimitrov points out.

Today – exactly 138 years ago, the first strike in the USA took place in Chicago with over 300,000 workers. The battle for workers' rights did not stop there, however, in 1886. Then the 8-hour workday was a chimera. It is also common in our present, notes the president of KNSB.

"Our battles continue! I am confident – together and steadfast! Be healthy! Happy holiday! Courage and success!", adds Plamen Dimitrov.

On the occasion of May 1 – The International Day of Labor and Workers' Solidarity and an official holiday of the CNSB and its regional structures throughout the country, together with the main members and trade union leaders of local organizations, organize over 100 initiatives.

They include outsourced admissions, discussion forums, free labor legal consultations for all citizens. In some cities, sports festivals, games for workers and their families, and holiday concerts will also be held.

On the occasion of May 1, the KNSB is also starting an informative legal video series on social networks. The goal is for every worker to be able to navigate what to do in the event of a problem, who to turn to and receive assistance for their labor rights. The campaign is titled "I know my labor rights". In the month of May, the confederation will also launch its own podcast on labor and legal issues, case studies with the participation of lawyers and economists. Anyone, regardless of whether they are a union member or not, will be able to ask questions related to the employment relationship, violations and problems in the workplace.
