The tension between the ruling party and the opposition does not subside. After this week's vote of no confidence regarding foreign policy did not pass in the plenary hall, the PP-DB raised the topic of the smuggling channel in Plovdiv and demanded a hearing of the Minister of the Interior. What are the attitudes of the ruling party and those of the opposition? The program "Supportive People" on Bulgaria ON AIR features Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov and Bozhidar Bozanov from the PP-DB.
As "absurd" Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov defined the vote of no confidence submitted by the opposition and pointed out that the lack of an alternative to what the foreign policy should be is also the basis for the lack of support.
"This approach that is being offered to us aims for exactly the opposite - destabilization, giving the wrong signals to our partners and seeking short-term political effects, without explaining what the alternative is. We are waiting for the convergence report. I am considering this government in the long term. In order to realize this strategic goal, there must be stability. The life of this government will be 4 years, in my opinion,", said Zafirov.
The PP-DB did not support the vote, since for them, too, the Eurozone is the number one strategic goal. And, when asked whether there will be a vote of no confidence on their part after receiving the convergent report, they answered as follows:
"We have not discussed this issue. The proposal has its pros and cons, it is yet to be discussed", said Bozhidar Bozhanov.
The parliament to check whether there is a smuggling channel in Plovdiv, as well as to hear the Minister of the Interior on the subject, are part of the opposition's demands. The PP-DB also insists on access to classified information:
"We were denied for procedural reasons and the impression was that something was being hidden. What we want to know about this case is to have the information, not to rely only on chats, but we want to see", Bozanov also said.
"Any violation that is found and proven will be strictly punished", Zafirov was categorical.
Next week, "Vazrazhdane" is due to submit a vote of no confidence again, this time on the topic of "corruption".
