Dimitar Gardev: A huge problem for the rulers in Skopje is European integration. They delayed the process - 1

„It is very important that precisely in difficult moments, Bulgaria's empathy for its neighbors is visible. A huge problem for the rulers in Skopje is European integration. They delayed the process. North Macedonia and Albania were divided. Tirana started the negotiation process, and what happened in Skopje - there one can look for a foreign policy failure”, said in the program „Offensive” the chairman of the European Affairs Committee in the National Assembly from „There is such a people” Dimitar Gardev.
According to him, the citizens of North Macedonia categorically wanted EU membership, and the ruling elite delayed it without any real arguments. He emphasized that currently Skopje can receive funds from EU funds, but it rejects them lightly.
He also commented on the unsuccessful vote of no confidence initiated by “Vazrazhdane” for the conduct of the country's foreign policy.

“The vote of no confidence itself was quite broad, it was not categorized. Bulgaria's foreign policy is determined by the organizations in which we participate - UN, EU, NATO. There is a consensus on this topic in society”, emphasized Gardev.
According to him, the ITN has clearly expressed its desire to hold referendums on important topics. He emphasized that the party is against leaving the EU. Gardev asked what would happen if we left the EU. He gave the example that 2.5 million Bulgarians work in the Union.

„There is no alternative to the European Union. There are no funds, no money in BRICS”, he was categorical.

Gardev emphasized that since there has been a government, there have been constant protests and currently there is no danger of their rights being restricted.

„We are not worried about future votes of no confidence by „Vazrazhdane” and PP-DB. Will a vote after the convergence report help Bulgaria enter the eurozone?”, he asked.

In his words, what unites the coalition is the desire for Bulgaria to emerge from the crisis.

“We count on our vision for Bulgaria to be supported by all who believe that it leads to prosperity”, he said.
According to him, it was too early to talk about a comprehensive peace plan in Ukraine. According to him, before that, there should be talk about a ceasefire.
