The government is stable, supported by a clear parliamentary majority and with a long-term perspective. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Atanas Zafirov in the program “Supportive People“ on Bulgaria ON AIR. He was categorical that the government has the capacity and horizon to fulfill a full mandate.
“The life of this government is guaranteed - most likely for a full four-year term,“ Zafirov emphasized.
According to him, the goals of the cabinet require sustainability and consistency.
„In order to realize this strategic goal that this government has set itself - entry into the eurozone by the end of the year - one of its components is political stability,” he explained.
The Deputy Prime Minister described the no-confidence vote against the cabinet as politically unfounded and devoid of content.
„The very nature of the vote was absurd in its essence. Two months of active work of this government, a difficult geopolitical environment. "To ask for a vote of no confidence on foreign policy is a pure waste of valuable parliamentary time," commented Atanas Zafirov.
He noted that the opposition has not offered a real alternative: “Okay, if they don't like this foreign policy, what should the foreign policy be? No one came out to say clearly what alternative exactly he was offering to Bulgarian society.“
In the context of regional instability, Zafirov emphasized that stable governance in Bulgaria is particularly necessary: “In practice, all the countries around us are experiencing internal political upheavals, which once again calls for the need for stable governance in the country.“
He added that the three political forces that bear the main responsibility for governance have proven that they can ensure a stable parliamentary majority.
“They have shown that they can create such stability and guarantee it with a stable, stable parliamentary majority“, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
The BSP, according to Zafirov, is a strong and united political force, based on a clear internal structure: “We have returned the collective beginning and currently the BSP is led by its collective bodies. The fact that I am at the head of these bodies is an additional guarantee that all these relapses, which we witnessed in the recent past, will never be repeated again.“
Regarding the public speculation about the distribution of posts between the parties in the government, Zafirov was clear that he was acting entirely in accordance with the signed coalition agreement: “Nowhere in this document is such a thing written. All appointments are discussed in the Joint Management Council in a dialogue mode and it has always been like this.“
As a specific example of efficiency in management, he pointed to the optimization of work in the Ministry of Regional Development: “In just a few months of the year, nearly 2 million more revenue can be generated than in the previous year. And I say again – only on the basis of optimization.“
Zafirov also made a clear call to the National Assembly to live up to its institutional responsibility. According to him, the stability of the government has already been proven, and the executive branch is implementing its priorities with consistency and concrete results.
