The Ministry of Interior filed 13,000 reports of bad roads last year, and in January and February 2025 they were over 2,000. This was announced on the air of “Wake up” by Chief Commissioner Maria Boteva.
“From April 3 to 5, over 22,000 passenger cars, over 3,200 freight cars, over 280 tractors, over 48 motorcyclists and over 100 bus drivers were checked. Over 10,300 tickets have been issued and over 1,800 acts have been drawn up for established administrative violations,” specified the deputy head of the “Traffic Police” department.
Meanwhile, she explained that the driver of the lorry involved in the accident with Siyana has nearly 20 previous violations, the last two of which are from 2024.
”They are mainly for vehicle signaling and speed limits. In 2003, he had two violations, in 2007 – two, in 2009 - one, in 2010 - four, in 2011 – seven”, Boteva added.

„Those who often pass there know the dangers and yet are unprepared when they get into this curve, when it rains, when it frosts. No matter how much a person thinks they are ready to face a risky situation, it turns out that they are not”, she explained.
According to her, in the last year, the „Traffic Police” have filed two reports of problems in this section.
The Ministry of Interior also showed photos from the inspection of roads throughout the country, which Daniel Mitov had appointed. They make it clear the really bad condition of the sections in our country.
“In recent days, the extremely aggressive behavior of drivers has been impressive. In one case, a driver drove through the pegs in the Kresna Gorge to change direction. We are complying with Daniel Mitov's order to travel in unbranded and unmarked cars in order to signal the nearest patrol and have the violator stopped”, Boteva also said.
