The tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump are causing serious concerns among Bulgarian economic experts and entrepreneurs. Financier Levon Hampartzumyan and entrepreneur Krasimir Dachev expressed their concerns about the potential impact on the Bulgarian economy in the bTV studio, news.bg reports
According to Levon Hampartzumyan, the main problem for Bulgaria, however, is not Trump's tariffs, but the fact that about 150,000 young people between the ages of 20 and 25 neither work nor study. He emphasized the need to open mines in the country instead of importing raw materials from distant destinations. Hampartzumyan expressed concern about the influence of small groups of activists who could slow down the country's industrial development.
Entrepreneur Krasimir Dachev noted that Bulgaria will suffer indirectly from US tariffs, but stressed that the country itself limits itself with various restrictions within Europe. Dachev also commented that President Trump is seeking to stop the practice of printing money and bring order to the US economy. He stressed that Trump is acting purposefully and wants reciprocal tariff equalization, not driven by political motives, but by economic interests. According to him, now Americans will start buying only American goods and this will also set the engine of the US economy in motion.
"Europe has woken up", said Hampartzumyan. The economy of the Old Continent cannot be managed with spells and managerial mistakes are no longer forgiven. He expects the world to divide into several industrial hubs. According to him, although Europe also makes mistakes in industrial and energy policy, being part of Europe is the best thing that has ever happened to Bulgaria.
