Another protest against the war on the roads. In search of an answer as to why children continue to die and whether the "Angels on the Road" association will take responsibility, they gathered in front of the Courthouse in Sofia. From there, a procession started, which reached the Ministry of Justice and the "Road Infrastructure" Agency.
"We are aware. One of the main problems is the slow justice system, as we promised the parents and relatives of the deceased, we have prepared changes to speed up this part, where cases and expert opinions are the most delayed," said the Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev.
According to him, the bill is ready and will be uploaded for public discussion tomorrow.
"We are introducing exams for all experts to acquire legal capacity. Secondly, mandatory training by the state for all experts annually. Thirdly, the Minister of Justice has the authority to request the removal of those experts who delay cases and who do not do their job well," added Georgi Georgiev.
According to the Minister of Justice, one of the most important reasons for delaying cases is that although there are about 300 experts throughout the country, about 10-15 of them are involved in all cases.
"We are introducing the possibility of video conferencing and questioning, so that an expert can, while working in Sofia, give testimony before courts in different parts of the country. This package of measures is about to enter the National Assembly. The bill on cameras - for speeding fines, which must prove and show and make it clear to everyone that the punishment is inevitable, so that they do not become the recidivism we are talking about. Together with colleagues from different parliamentary groups, we are working to tighten the penalties without the risk of them later falling into the Constitutional Court. There is a lot of work. It is obvious that the system is not doing well. We are also planning a new type of expertise that will be on the road surface and will be independent. For the judicial system to work, there must be quality and fast justice," said Minister Georgi Georgiev.
