We will purchase and deploy unmarked police cars to control aggressive drivers who violate the Road Traffic Act. This was stated by the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov at a briefing in Dobrich.

According to him, the system of imposing penalties should be replaced with the possibility for the police to impose fines on the spot. "It should be done with POS terminals. If the driver is unable to pay the fine, a system should be devised for removing the vehicle from traffic until it is paid. This way, some people will learn to carry maps,” the minister commented.

Daniel Mitov also suggested that pegs be installed on the already identified dangerous sections, and that the Ministry of Interior employees make inventories in these areas, continuously submitting instructions to other institutions. "The big issue is the quality of the road surface and the roads. In the last four years, nothing has been done, a highway “Hemus”, which is important for the Dobrich region, would have been ready or would have remained at some final stage”, the Minister of the Interior pointed out.

He added that the “Road Infrastructure” Agency (API) most likely uses other parameters for evaluating the road. "The police are aware of where the dangerous sections are, where road accidents occur most often, especially with injuries and victims - these instructions were given to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) and the RIA", commented Mitov. "I am not familiar with their interactive map, but I would recommend that they work on ours. They may be taking into account other parameters when it comes to the quality of the road itself", he added. According to him, such a level of coordination must be achieved so that there are no discrepancies, and the cameras of the TOLL system and municipal surveillance systems must be connected to the Ministry of Interior's system.

The Minister of Interior also said that it is necessary to create such a level of coordination that creates conditions for faster work. "You see what it is - four years of madness, change of governments every three or nine months, all coordination has been lost, no one has spoken to anyone, no one has given anyone direction and at one point the entire system does not know what to do and unfortunately the disaster happened," he commented.
