Stoyan Mihalev will resign tomorrow as deputy mayor of the capital's Oborishte district. He announced this himself on his Facebook profile.
„A lot has been said and written on the topic of the Oborishte district. Although I had made my decision at the very beginning of the conflict, its announcement was delayed for purely political reasons. I believe that they will become completely clear from what is written below.
I will start with this - tomorrow I will submit my resignation as deputy mayor of the Oborishte district. According to my own understanding, this is the most natural and logical thing a person should do when they find themselves involved in such a situation.
I use the word “involved” consciously, because I was far from prepared for what happened.
I accepted this position, driven by my desire to be useful to the region. Together with a team of people, we were preparing a comprehensive program in the “Culture” sector, on which I was eager to start working. My participation in politics has always been motivated precisely by this - by the need to be useful. I have spent many years in politics and in the public life of the country without holding any positions - from the very establishment of DSB, until a few years ago. I have not sought benefits, I have not aspired to positions, I have not pursued a quick career. If I had been - most likely I would have been elsewhere a long time ago, like many people.
