There is a direct connection between the change in government in Washington and the government in our country - our rulers feel a little more impunity without external control.
This opinion was expressed to the Bulgarian National Radio by Vladislav Panev, a former deputy from the Bulgarian Democratic Party, leader of the "Acceleration" club.
In his words, we cannot always count on "someone holding our hand and doing our reforms in this way, under pressure.".
It is important to enter the eurozone, but from January 1, 2026, rivers of honey and butter will not flow to Bulgaria, he emphasized.
Brussels' decision to accept us is political. The radical opposition here is counting on the fact that the high expectations set by the parties for positive change from January 1st will not be justified, Panev commented on the program "Predi visci".
Bulgaria is deindustrializing and we must think about how to stop this process, he said.
Society is radicalizing, Vladislav Panev believes. According to him, politicians also contribute to this.
"Radicalization leads to unstable governments and populism."
There is potential for the right, but there is no leader in this space, the former MP noted.
"The right-wing space becomes strong on the basis of a wave. When the state goes into a rut, then people turn to these ideas. We are currently headed towards a rut. We may find ourselves in the situation of Greece much earlier than expected.
This is the most left-wing government since Zhan Videnov. We are currently seizing the money of our children and grandchildren. This is a government that is not good for Bulgaria," Panev pointed out. In his words, we can expect more populism.
