Bad news for Roma fans - the team's star Paulo Dybala will undergo tendon surgery and will not play until the end of the season, the club officially announced, quoted by Topsport.
"Paulo Dybala will undergo surgery in the coming days after injuring his left hamstring. The player and the club have mutually agreed that this is the best course of treatment for an optimal recovery. We wish Paulo a speedy recovery - we look forward to seeing him in action soon!", Roma wrote.
The Argentine striker also addressed his fans via social media, thanking them for their support and explaining his decision:
"After receiving the test results and considering the different options, I have decided to undergo the procedure now in order to return as soon as possible. Although I will be away from the pitch for some time, I will continue to support my Roma teammates and the Argentina national team. I will come back even stronger - I promise! Forza Roma and Vamos Argentina!"
Dybala came on as a substitute in the win over Cagliari last weekend, but lasted just 12 minutes before being substituted due to pain. Initial predictions were for a month's absence, but after the decision to undergo surgery, his recovery will last until the end of the campaign.
This season, the Argentine has 8 goals and 4 assists in 36 games in all competitions.
