A total of 11 cities have been identified as options for future destinations for the potential expansion of the National Basketball Association of the United States and Canada (NBA) in Europe, writes the Serbian publication Meridian Sports, quoted by BTA.
These are Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin, Paris, London, Manchester, Milan, Rome, Istanbul and Athens, which stand out in the preliminary list.
The project will be discussed further at the upcoming meeting of the NBA leadership with the participation of the Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Andreas Zagklis.
Since negotiations between the NBA and the Euroleague basketball have been confirmed as open, the traditional European clubs that are currently competing in the most prestigious club competition for the title on the Old Continent may indeed become part of plans.
However, the specific involvement, if any, remains unclear.
