Croatia defeated France 2-0 in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final, FOCUS reported.
The two teams played today the first match of the quarter-final playoffs in League "A" of the Nations League tournament.
The match is being played at the "Polud" stadium in Split.
The hosts could have taken the lead in the 8th minute, but then Andrej Kramaric missed to score from the penalty spot. After all, the "chess players" opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Ante Budimir scored after a pass from veteran Ivan Perišić.
The 36-year-old Perišić made it 2:0 in added time (45+1').
No more goals were scored in the second half.
This is Croatia's second consecutive victory over France after the one in the tournament 2 years ago with a 1:0 away win.
The second leg is on the 23rd in Paris at 21:45 Bulgarian time.
