Norway has decided to restrict the entry of Russian tourists to the country. The decision comes as a response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, underscoring Norway's commitment to stand by its allies and partners, reports News.bg.
Norway, a NATO member with a border stretching nearly 200 kilometers along Russia, initially introduced restrictions on Russian tourist visas in 2022. The latest measures are a step forward in the country's efforts to respond to what it sees as unjustified aggression by Russia vs. Ukraine.
Justice Minister Emily Enger Mell stressed that the move is in line with Norway's position to support its allies and partners against Russia's actions in Ukraine.
She said: “The decision to tighten entry rules is in line with Norway's approach to support allies and partners in response to Russia's illegal war of aggression against Ukraine”.
Under the new rules, Russian citizens traveling for tourism or other non-essential reasons will have more difficulty entering Norway. However, the country has provided for some exceptions, such as visits to close relatives residing in Norway.
Norway's decision reflects its continued support for Ukraine and its commitment to upholding international law and order. By tightening entry rules for Russian tourists, Norway is sending a clear message of solidarity with Ukraine and its allies.
