Kremlin reported Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not made contact with Donald Trump since the assassination attempt on him over the weekend and has no plans to do so. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the security measures around Putin are already at an appropriate level and there is no need for additional efforts, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"Security has already been strengthened for obvious reasons, regardless of the incidents," Peskov told reporters. He added that all necessary measures have been taken keeping in mind the international tension.
On Sunday, the Kremlin said it did not hold the US administration responsible for the assassination attempt against Trump, but accused it of creating the atmosphere that provoked the attack.
Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania after a major security lapse. The attacker was shot dead, but the motive has not yet been established. Putin has not yet publicly commented on the case.
Peskov said that attempts to remove Trump from the political arena are obvious to all outside observers and that his life is in danger.
