Over 30,000 Rosgvardiya (Russian National Guard) fighters are believed to be stationed in Ukraine. The majority of them carry out rear guard operations, and only a few units participate in frontline combat operations. This was reported in the daily report of the military intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense, a summary of which was published on the social network X.
Rosgvard's flagship combat unit, the 116th Special Brigade, probably consists of three regiments, which have tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and artillery.

As of early 2024, Rosgvardia is almost certainly trying to increase its frontline forces by integrating Russian irregulars. In May 2024, Rosgvardiya successfully integrated the battalion "Vostok" of the Donetsk People's Republic in its ranks. The expected agreement to include the forces of "Wagner" in the 1st Volunteer Corps of the Rosgvard probably failed in March 2024.
