The illegitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is a problem, as well as the decree of inadmissibility of negotiations with Moscow, this may complicate the negotiation process to settle Ukraine. This was stated on Wednesday by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov. He made the statement during a meeting with graduates of the RANEPA Higher School, reports "Interfax".
Peskov recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Zelensky has clearly lost his legitimacy as the president of Ukraine and that the analysis of the constitution of this country allows to draw a conclusion as to who can be the successor of this position of the country's leader. .
"But at the moment, of course, this remains a problem," Peskov said, noting that the same problem is the decree of the president of Ukraine, which prohibits any leader of that country from negotiating with Moscow.
This, he added, significantly complicates the negotiation process.
"But Russia has never abandoned the peace process to guarantee our interests, our security for us and for future generations," Peskov said. At the same time, he stressed that "of course, the peace process is preferable", adding that the SVO was launched after all concerns and appeals by Russia were rejected.
Kremlin hopes to get clarification on Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba's statement about Kiev's readiness to negotiate with Moscow.
"We do not know what is behind these statements, we have not even heard these statements from the mouth of Mr. Kuleba himself, but we hope that we will receive some clarification in the near future," Peskov said.
We remind you that Kiev has already explained several times why Zelensky is still the president.
Kiev is open to negotiations with Russia if Moscow is willing to negotiate in good faith, but so far there are no such signs. This was stated by Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Kuleba is the most senior Ukrainian official to travel to China since Russia invaded in February 2022. He spoke with Foreign Minister Wang Yi for more than three hours, a Ukrainian source in the delegation said.
Putin said in June that Moscow would end the war if Kiev withdrew and handed over the remaining four partially occupied Ukrainian provinces and gave up its NATO ambitions, an idea rejected in Kiev as an absurd ultimatum.
Kiev plans to hold a second international summit later this year to develop its vision for peace after the initial meeting in Switzerland in June drew dozens of delegations from around the world, but not from Russia or China .
