The British Minister of defense John Healy wrote an article in the Sunday Express in which he touched on the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region of sovereign Russian territory.
"After spending just six weeks as Britain's Defense Secretary, I am more convinced than ever that the defense of the United Kingdom, and indeed Europe, begins in Ukraine. Because if Putin succeeds in Ukraine, he won't stop there and others like him will take heart," Healy writes.
"So we will stand by our brave Ukrainian friends for as long as it takes. Britain is united in its support for Ukraine," he continues.
"The bold incursion of Ukrainian troops into Russia in recent days, to defend against new Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, has exposed the vulnerability of the Russian military and is putting pressure on Putin. Let me be clear: according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, Ukraine has the clear right to self-defense against illegal attacks by Russia," the minister wrote.
"In compliance with international law, this does not exclude operations on Russian territory,", he emphasizes.
Referring to the use of British weapons in Russia (Challenger 2 tanks were spotted in the Kursk region), Healy wrote: "We should be proud that equipment donated by Britain is in the hands of brave Ukrainians on the frontline helping them to defend their country and repel Putin".
