Admiral Mark Montgomery: Crimean bridge is a legitimate target to hit, we should hit it - 1

Crimean bridge is of strategic importance and is a symbol of the imposition of Russia's will in occupied Crimea. It also has a tactical value, as part of the logistics passes through it.

Retired US Navy Admiral Mark Montgomery said this in an interview with "Voice of America".

"There is also a ferry connection there, which is... even more important for logistics. So we have to hit ... both targets," Montgomery believes.

"This is a legitimate military objective. And since they (the Ukrainians) have the weapons to strike, they should probably consider it.

But they also have to consider where else they can use these weapons because (Ukraine) has a limited number of long-range ATACAMS missiles or other systems,", the American admiral commented.

He opined that the Crimean bridge was a legitimate target that could be struck, but it was worth doing something about the ferries.

"Aerial drones can also do something about it. It should be a combination of strikes," the military believes.

He adds that it is very important to collapse the logistical capabilities of the Russians in the occupied Crimea. This is necessary for a future counter-offensive of the ASU to liberate the peninsula, should this happen.

From time to time, various experts and the military raise the question of the liberation of Crimea. Ukraine was able to expel the Russian Black Sea Fleet from there in an extremely short period of time. The Ukrainian military regularly organizes strikes on the occupied peninsula.

Retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, former commander of US forces in Europe, is a supporter of the liberation of Crimea. According to him, "he who controls Crimea will win this war".
