Delegations from Russia and the United States will hold talks in Istanbul, where they will discuss problems in the work of the embassies of the two countries and ways to return them to normal functioning.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that diplomats and experts will meet and discuss "systemic problems accumulated as a result of the illegal actions of the previous US administration". During Biden's time, artificial obstacles were created for the activities of the Russian embassy, to which Russia responded in kind. "We have created uncomfortable conditions for the work of the US embassy in Moscow", the head of Russian diplomacy noted.
The parties have not yet disclosed the composition of the delegations, but both Moscow and Washington have made it clear that the meeting in Istanbul will be entirely devoted to the topic of the work of diplomatic missions. Lavrov specified that the negotiators within the framework of this contact will not touch on the topic of frozen Russian reserves. Later, the State Department told journalists that Ukraine and issues related to the security sphere are also not planned for discussion.
