Former White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said that former US President Joe Biden was "denied" from running for re-election by his own party in an unprecedented way, by being "shot" and that hurt the election more than it seems.
"I've never seen a party do what they did. It hurt. I was shocked. The party was divided. "I think it hurt us more than most people realize," Jean-Pierre said at an event at the Harvard School of Government.
Jean-Pierre said Biden made no secret of his age and physical condition.
"At the same time, he was an effective president and achieved in one term what some don't in two," Jean-Pierre said.
Another problem, she said, was misinformation.
Biden dropped out of the presidential race after a disastrous debate in June with his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, who later won the election. Biden was distracted during the debates, had difficulty finishing sentences and lost the thread of the conversation. At the end of the event, his wife, Jill, helped Biden down the stairs of the studio.
