The Hungarian government will propose several amendments to the country's Constitution, Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff, Gergely Guias, announced at a press conference today, quoted by the Hungarian news agency MTI, BTA reports.
One of the proposals is to include text that explicitly states that "there are two sexes - female and male", Guias specified.
Additional changes could include guarantees for the right of small communities to self-defense. "This will ensure that small communities can decide with whom they want to live together," he explained.
Guiàs said that the government had received such requests from many mayors, adding that the Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development would coordinate consultations with local leaders on the matter.
In addition, the government is proposing to include a ban on drug abuse in the Constitution. In addition, provisions will be added to the basic law according to which "the right of children to physical, psychological and moral development takes priority over all other rights, with the exception of the right to life," concluded Guiàs.
