Zelensky arrived at Shannon Airport in Western Ireland, where he was met by Martin. The two discussed Ukraine's membership in the European Union and other issues of mutual interest. Zelensky expressed his joy at being in Ireland and his gratitude to the Irish people for their support for Ukrainians forced to flee the war.
During the visit, Irish Prime Minister Martin canceled a planned visit to Belfast to meet with the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky, who stopped in Ireland on his way to the United States, had planned to meet with Donald Trump, where he will sign a mineral extraction agreement.
