Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs on US products starting today in response to the tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, quoted by CBC and BTA.
"If the United States' tariffs come into effect, Canada will respond from midnight by imposing a 25 percent tariff on $155 billion worth of US goods," the Canadian Prime Minister said in a statement, AFP reported.
„Canada will not leave this unjustified decision unanswered“, Trudeau said.
„Our tariffs will remain in place until the US trade actions are reversed, and if the US tariffs are not terminated, we are in "active discussions with provinces and territories to implement several non-tariff measures," he said.
He called on the U.S. administration to review its tariffs and said Canada "remains steadfast" in standing up for its economy, jobs and workers.
