After the automotive concern Stellantis said that they will not remove brands from their portfolio, now a new, completely opposite information has been circulating on the Internet . According to her, the concern can liquidate several well-known brands at once, which have recently been unprofitable. But these brands still have 2-3 years to save the day. This was stated by the CEO of Stellantis Corporation, Carlos Tavares, quoted by Automotive News .
He said that the new management will begin to review the composition of Stellantis and there is a possibility that not all 14 brands will survive the process. For now, however, according to Tavares, they are protected and funded – at least until 2026. But Tavares will most likely leave Stelantis, and the new management will not hesitate to liquidate previously famous brands. However, such big brands as Fiat, Opel, Citroën and Peugeot are unlikely to be affected by the optimization.
Currently, Chrysler's lineup consists only of the Pacifica minivan, but the American brand intends to bring back the Voyager next year, and in 2026 to launch crossovers along with Dodge. The Ram brand has recently had serious quality issues, which recently led to the recall of nearly a million and a half vehicles worldwide, but these pickups are popular across the ocean.
Furthermore, the fate of DS Automobiles, as well as Maserati, whose sales have completely collapsed in 2024, may be in question. At the same time, with the idea of "saving the skin", Maserati is preparing a number of new products: an electric car MC20, a new flagship crossover, as well as a sedan that will replace the obsolete Quattroporte.
Tavares' contract expires in 2026 and will not be renewed. A successor to the position of CEO of Stellantis is currently being sought, whose name should be revealed in late 2025. And what he will decide, we will find out only after a year and a half.
