US President Donald Trump believes that trade tariffs are hitting the Chinese economy harder than the US. He expressed this position in a post published in Truth Social.
“China has suffered much more than the US. They and many other countries have treated us unacceptably badly“, said Trump, calling the previous US economic policy “stupid and helpless“.
At the same time, according to the American leader, the course he is following has allowed to attract $5 trillion in investments into the US economy. “This is an economic revolution and we will win. Hold on tight, it will not be easy, but the end result will be historic“, said the owner of the White House home.
Earlier, the Tariff Commission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China said that China is imposing additional tariffs on products imported from the United States in response to Trump's tariff policy. The tariffs are being introduced in addition to existing tariffs, the department said.
The trade turnover between China and the United States reached 688.28 billion USD by the end of 2024. At the same time, US supplies to China amounted to 163.62 billion USD - almost three times less than China's exports to the United States. China imports agricultural products, microchips, engineering equipment, hydrocarbons and metals from the United States. The United States buys smartphones, computers, lithium-ion batteries, plastic products, household appliances, shoes, toys and much more from China.
