People in the "Vitosha" quarter, which is one of the most desirable and popular places to live in Sofia, are complaining that for months the street near their homes has resembled a muddy road.
"We have been living in this hell since September last year. We breathe dust and walk in mud. Thanks to the intervention of your television, the institutions have paid attention to us", said in "Sabúg se" Veselin Hristov, a resident of the „Vitosha” quarter.
People emphasized that there are no signs, that there is some kind of bypass route. "No conditions have been created for passing even along this bypass. It is even in even more mud. There is no pavement. The problem is not only with this particular street", said a resident of the neighborhood.
Momchil Yakimov from the Sofia Inspectorate explained that he was on the scene for the first time 4 years ago. "Then the reason was that the entire street was flooded and icy and the citizens could not get to their homes. Then I explained that the street was not expropriated, the canal is far away, and there is nowhere to put any storm drains. Since then, a lot has changed. In 2023, the municipality allocated 180 thousand leva for the expropriation of private land right around the block, near which the street in question is located," he emphasized.
According to him, a main sewer branch is currently being built, which has a total length of 300 meters. "This is a collecting branch that will also drain the direct streets. At the time, it was not built. The buildings were discharged into smaller canals with insufficient flow, and this branch must be completed," he emphasized.
He added that the construction of the canal will be completed by May.
