Employees of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) arrested three Bulgarians who participated in an international criminal group operating on the territory of European Union countries, the Ministry of Interior announced.
Extradition of the detainees is pending.
The action was carried out on February 6 in execution of a European arrest warrant issued by the Kingdom of Belgium.
The Ministry of Interior noted that following information submitted by us in December 2024, a large laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs was discovered in Bulgaria. Laboratory equipment, a reactor, precursors and notes for carrying out the chemical synthesis process were found and seized.
Joint work on the case continues.
In terms of drugs, a few days ago the Directorate of Drug Control conducted a specialized police operation against the distribution of synthetic cannabinoids in various products through online-based platforms. Three people were detained and charged with acquiring and possessing narcotics or their analogues. Over 1,000 different products were seized during the operation.
