Burudzhieva: We do not yet know the priorities of this government, the economic arguments for the euro are also missing - 1

This is the great chance for „Vazrazhdane“ to become the first political force - if we adopt the euro, and it turns out that we were unprepared. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Burudzhieva on the NovaNews air, quoted by novini.bg.

She gave the example of Greece, which, in her words, experienced a „price shock“ with the adoption of the common European currency in 2001.

A shock occurred in Greece - toll fees alone increased by more than 3 times. There are very serious risks as to who will bear the price and how bearable it will be. I strongly hope that it will not happen that we introduce the euro and a situation arises that our politicians will not be able to control, warned Burudzhieva.

According to her, preserving the leva and rejecting the euro will remain the leading thesis of “Vazrazhdane“ and in the future.
According to her, the fact that the government will request an extraordinary convergence report is still some indication that the cabinet is confident that it will receive a “yes“.

“The appeals from the opposition to hurry are not correct in my opinion, since a negative report will stop us for a long time“, she also reminded.

Burudzhieva did not spare criticism of the government for not yet presenting the priorities of this administration to the public and expressed hope that this will happen in parallel with the presentation of the draft budget for 2025.

I hope that along with the delay with the budget, we will also see the government program, so that we can understand why things are the way they are with the budget. Otherwise, we are left with just a conversation about fiscal accounting, and not what will happen to Bulgaria in this dramatic world. We do not yet know the priorities of this government, and the economic arguments for the euro are also missing, the political scientist noted.

Regarding the election of Atanas Zafirov as chairman of the BSP, Assoc. Prof. Burudzhieva advised him to keep his competitors around him, because “that is when governance is best“.

“The BSP has made a request to return to that period of diverse opinions, the focus is again on collective bodies rather than on leadership“, added Burudzhieva.

According to her, one of the leading tasks of the BSP will be to regain the trust of voters.
