986 snowplows are working on the republican roads. Snowfall continues throughout the country, with heavy snowfall in the Silistra, Razgrad, Ruse and Targovishte regions. Snow is also falling on the “Shipka“, “Prevala“, “Republika“ and “Pamporovo“ passes. This was reported by the RIA.
The “Obzorski“ pass is restricted to all vehicles due to heavy snowfall and fallen trees. Work is being mobilized on site, and it is expected that passenger car traffic will be restored by 3 o'clock.
The passage of heavy trucks over 12 tons is prohibited in the passes “Pamporovo“ and “Prevala“. In the Targovishte region, all trucks over 12 tons must drive with chains.
The processing of the pavements by snow removal machines continues to ensure safe travel for drivers. The teams of road maintenance companies are taking the necessary actions to ensure traffic in winter conditions. To increase traffic safety and if necessary, it is possible to close individual sections of the routes for processing with inert materials. Where necessary due to strong winds, drifting snow or poor visibility, traffic may be temporarily restricted until weather conditions improve and the road is cleared.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Road Infrastructure Agency appeal to drivers to drive in vehicles prepared for winter conditions, to drive at a speed appropriate to winter conditions, not to undertake risky maneuvers, as well as to overtake snow removal equipment. Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions makes it difficult for all other drivers to travel and for snow removal equipment to work.
