Sarafov requested the immunities of two MPs - from GERB-SDF and MRF-New Beginning

A request to lift the immunity of Daniel Alexandrov and conduct criminal proceedings has also been submitted to the 49th National Assembly, and for Dimitar Avramov - in several parliaments.

Sarafov requested the immunities of two MPs - from GERB-SDF and MRF-New Beginning  - 1

Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov submitted to the 51st National Assembly reasoned requests to lift the immunities of MPs Dimitar Avramov from "MPS - New Beginning" and Daniel Alexandrov from GERB-SDF at the proposal of the supervising prosecutors in order to grant permission to initiate criminal prosecution. This was announced by the press center of the state prosecution, quoted by Nova TV.
There is a criminal case against Avramov, which was suspended by a ruling dated 27.01.2025. of the Sofia Court of Appeal due to his election as a deputy in the 51st National Assembly. The case is for influence peddling.
In May 2023, pre-trial proceedings were initiated against Aleksandrov for a crime of a general nature - under Art. 150 para. 1 of the Criminal Code (for an act aimed at arousing sexual desire without intercourse with a person under the age of 18). During the investigation, numerous witnesses were questioned, written evidence and a conclusion from a comprehensive expert examination were submitted. By a decree of November 2024. the criminal proceedings were suspended, as Aleksandrov had taken the oath as a deputy of the 51st National Assembly.

A request to lift Aleksandrov's immunity and conduct criminal proceedings was also submitted to the 49th National Assembly, and for Avramov - to several parliaments.

According to Art. 70, para. 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and Art. 136, para. 3, in conjunction with para. 1 of the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly, members of the National Assembly cannot be detained and criminal prosecution cannot be initiated against them except for crimes of a general nature and with the permission of the National Assembly or with their written consent.
