A protest under the motto "Feminism, not militarism" was held today in Sofia.
The event, organized by feminist and civil society organizations, focuses on women's rights, the fight against violence and social inequalities.
"The only war worth fighting is the one for freedom. A woman's freedom is not a gift. It is a right that she must take, no matter what forces stand against her. "That's why we should continue to be here and draw strength from the struggles of all women who carry in their hearts the reckless love for freedom," Alexandra Stankova from the informal collective "Feminist Mobilizations" told the Bulgarian National Radio.
Later, the demonstration turned into a procession along key streets in the center of the capital. The procession took place calmly, without tension or provocations, guarded by the police.
The organizers are demanding more effective measures against domestic violence, equality in the workplace, economic justice and access to quality social services.
