Antoaneta Tsoneva: The big conflict that rocks the boat is related to the election of the chairman of the CPC - 1

The DB is always ready to support those government policies that unconditionally protect the integration of our country into the core of Europe. This was stated in the program “Offensive with Lyubomir Ognyanov” on NOVA News by Antoaneta Tsoneva from the Executive Council of “Yes, Bulgaria”

"We are not on the bench on the topics of the eurozone. We do not intend to replace anyone. If such a conversation ever begins, we must return to the moment when we were at the negotiating table to form a cabinet and these negotiations were interrupted because the conditions under which we could enter this government were not accepted by GERB at the time," she recalled.

And she added: "We were not removed from the talks because of Rosen Zhelyazkov. The negotiations with us ended because the conditions related to limiting illegitimate influences, the real cordon sanitaire that we fought for, were not accepted in any way. And that rocks the boat," she explained.

"There are no negotiations and talks in the direction of "floating majorities". What the majority is trying to do at the moment is to elect regulators without the participation of the opposition. Our only option is to present candidates who have high public support. The big conflict that is rocking the boat is obviously related to the election of the chairman of the CPC. There is very serious tension in the ruling majority around the candidacy of Rosen Karadimov, Tsoneva commented on the tension in power over the past week.

"Europe has to solve at least four major tasks in a situation in which our Euro-Atlantic relations are quite complicated. America seems to have decided to withdraw from the security of Europe. So the task of the Europeans today is, first of all, to manage to strengthen Ukraine's positions in future peace negotiations. This means a convincing answer to the fact that the security of Ukraine is in practice also security for Europe. On the issue of defense investments - it is not just about money. We are racing against time. We do not have 10 or 20 years to be able to expand, upgrade and implement such a large-scale project, to be able to achieve strategic military autonomy on the continent. And last but not least, a very important thing that is a task for European and Bulgarian politicians is to have public opinion on their side. When such a change in the way public finances will be managed begins, topics such as energy and our industrial development must be aligned and subordinated to the idea of security," Tsoneva commented on the decisions taken by European leaders at the European Council summit held in Brussels.

She also commented on our country's position regarding the war in Ukraine against the backdrop of the statements of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and President Rumen Radev. "The country's foreign policy is built and created by the Council of Ministers. What the Prime Minister says is important. It is about his participation in the extraordinary European Council and the fact that Bulgaria is a country and participates in this resolution. This is the only important and legitimate message that currently determines our country's policy on this topic, related to the security of Europe and the way in which Ukraine should be supported," Tsoneva emphasized.

And she added: "So the positions of the prime minister, the way in which he expresses his attitude on this topic, is what our partners should monitor. Yes, we understand the issue of the president taking a position that probably makes some people hesitant about what kind of peace we actually want? Do we want peace that represents the capitulation of Ukraine or do we want peace that is long-term and with guarantees for the security of Kiev and Europe. Because I notice that labeling is being abused in the public space - people and political parties are divided into those who were war-loving and those who were peace-loving. No. We all want peace. The question is what kind of peace," she emphasized.

When asked if a peace agreement is reached between Russia and Ukraine with the possibility of peacekeeping forces, what will be the position of "Democratic Bulgaria", she emphasized that: "Our position was very categorically expressed last week in a very extensive declaration. I believe that this is also our national interest. All decisions in which Bulgaria takes part should protect our national interest. And that, in a situation like this, is to be at the core of countries that make decisions on how to ensure guarantees for achieving peace on the one hand and the security of Europe on the other. We are in a vulnerable position, but at the same time this is a position that is key and provides opportunities. Our interest is for our voice to have a much more distinct role in the decision-making process," Tsoneva is categorical.
