The most modern coal-fired power plant in Bulgaria - TPP AES Galabovo, achieved a kind of February record. The power plant produced the largest amount of electricity for all months of February since its commissioning until today. In the frosty days of last month, TPP AES Galabovo provided Bulgarian consumers with 343,459 MWh of electricity.
The electricity produced in February by TPP AES Galabovo is over 9% of the total consumption in the country for the period. This means that every eleventh kilowatt-hour of electricity used by Bulgarian consumers during the cold February was produced from a local energy resource in the most environmentally friendly coal-fired power plant in the country.
“AES Galabovo TPP continues to fulfill its role as a guarantor of Bulgaria's energy security, and even on the coldest days in February, it provided consumers throughout the country with reliable electricity from Bulgarian lignite without any problems“, commented Ivan Tsankov, CEO of AES Bulgaria. In addition to being an important generating capacity, AES Galabovo TPP also provides dispatching services that are critically important for the energy system, thanks to its rapid maneuverability.
