Kiril Petkov: DPS-New Beginning is posing as opposition, but is actually a governing partner - 1

"The New Beginning" (DPS-New Beginning) is posing as opposition, but is actually a governing partner. This was stated in Montana by the co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" Kiril Petkov, emphasizing that he is categorically against Rosen Karadimov taking over the Commission for Protection of Competition.

The governing majority has real problems, said Kiril Petkov. According to him, Ahmed Dogan's DPS does not want to be used "like a fig leaf":

"And I understand them. When I see what appointments - like Rosen Karadimov, are being proposed. And it is really clear that Peevski has enormous control over the government. I don't know if it's control or they're just in partnership," said the PP co-chairman.

Kiril Petkov is categorically against Rosen Karadimov becoming chairman of the Commission for Protection of Competition:

"Can the person who coordinated the elections with 47% of the sections with a difference in votes, now let's put him in charge of an institution with 30 billion a year in public procurement for the next seven years," Petkov commented.

"We Continue the Change" will continue to shed light on the actions of those in power, Kiril Petkov also said:

"At the first vote on the budget, vote from "New Beginning" and he should also confirm - Peevski - that he will potentially support Rosen Karadimov, even though he later said he wouldn't. These games don't work. I think that Bulgarian citizens are already starting to see very clearly where things are going and I hope that we will not allow some of the outrages that they have prepared".

At the press conference of "Continuing the Change" in Montana, the topic of the "Ogosta" dam was also discussed. The PP stated that they insist that the repair of the dam wall near Montana begin this year.

The repair of the dam wall of the "Ogosta" dam has been postponed for years, and it is urgent. The construction of the correction of the river after the wall must also continue, said Vanina Vetsina, a member of the 49th National Assembly. Together with former Minister of Economy Bogdan Bogdanov and PP co-chair Kiril Petkov, she today got acquainted with the condition of the wall.

The PP is submitting a proposal to move the 12 million leva earmarked for the wall from the "desirable" section of the budget to the "mandatory" section, and to start the repair this year, Petkov said:

"The water level is really very low. Now is the perfect time for the repair to actually take place.(...) We saw the wall again. It can be seen that some of the elements are not well secured. Apparently, it needs to start right now, this year"

Providing funds for repairs is even more urgent, since the construction permit for the "Ogosta" dam expires in mid-April:

"When these two steps are taken - the money, the 12 million goes to the mandatory list, not the optional list, and the building permit is extended, I hope work will start this year," said Kiril Petkov.
