Spill of oily stains in the Danube River in the area of the "Tegra" industrial zone near Ruse. Experts from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water took action after such a clip was posted on social networks, BNT reported.
An immediate emergency inspection was carried out.
During a patrol yesterday in the area of a discharge collector, an oily fraction (vegetable) with a yellowish-brown color and a characteristic odor was found. The contaminated area is about five square meters and is limited by a fence.
A gap in the fence was found, as a result of which the fraction was carried away by the river's current.
The experts also inspected the coastal area near the village of Sandrovo, near Aleko Island. Traces of the fraction have reached the coastline of the town of Marten.
The operator "Port Bulmarekt" EAD has taken measures to clean up the contaminated area, as well as measures to identify the spill.
A report of findings has been drawn up, and the port operator has been instructed to provide information by the end of the week on the causes of the spill and the measures taken to limit it, of which it must notify the control authority.
The investigation into the case continues.
