„Rearmament will be a stimulus for the European economy, including the Bulgarian one. Bulgaria has a competitive advantage, it has a strong military industry. Over the past 2-3 years, this has been happening in Bulgaria - the arms industry is developing.". This was said in „This Sunday“ Atanas Pekanov, former Deputy Prime Minister for Management of European Funds.
According to him, in recent years, Europe has missed some of the trends that are happening in the world. One of them is that the world is becoming increasingly insecure.
„The original role of the modern state is to ensure the internal and external security of its citizens. For many years, Europe has been neglecting this topic,” Pekanov believes.
“All decisions in the coming months will be very difficult. We see fragmentation, there are different member states with different opinions. This means that Europe is making decisions quite slowly, which is one of the huge problems facing us“, Atanas Pekanov also said.
“In the coming years, I think we need to spend more on defense and armaments, and this is something that should be produced in Europe. This is key and I support the European Commission“, the former Deputy Prime Minister for the Management of European Funds pointed out.
