Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev announced that changes are being prepared in the Judiciary Law because of road victims.
"Bulgaria needs another 1,000 km of highways, but they don't have them. You remember the scandals with "Hemus". Part of "Hemus" was paid for without a project. Yes, but it doesn't exist. In the period 2018-2021, the highways were built the worst. All this takes its toll every day. The cup of patience has run out", said the former Minister of Regional Development, Arch. Ivan Shishkov, in the program "The Day ON AIR".
According to Hristo Radkov from the Association of Drivers, all those who accused the truck driver who hit the car in which 12-year-old Siyana was traveling should keep quiet and first see what the reasons were that led to the accident.
The road is to blame
"All heavy trucks arriving from Western Europe pass through this road. If we have a concentration of accidents in this section, then there is a problem in this section of the road. The road is to blame. The biggest cause of injuries in Bulgaria is the road. We have no roads. We need to focus our efforts where we will save the most lives," Radkov told Bulgaria ON AIR.
Arch. Shishkov noted that the truck driver had driven on highways in Europe, but "when he entered Bulgaria there were no highways."
"This is a problem of the political class. Where is the justice? We need to have highways, to have passability. All drivers are under stress driving motor vehicles, that's why so many accidents happen. We don't have roads, we have stolen money for roads,", the former Minister of Regional Development emphasized.
In his words, when entering Schengen, we turned out to be absolutely unprepared.
TIRs are not enemies
"We didn't build our road network and we didn't use European money to do it. We did not implement it because we did not have the project readiness. TIRs are not our enemies, they are part of the European economy. We must provide them with the roads they need. It is time for people to understand who stole the asphalt, where our money is and why we do not have roads. We have in-house, which was paid for, without having projects", said arch. Shishkov.
