The April Uprising is an example of the fact that freedom is not a gift to us and that the Bulgarian revolutionaries have given what they can, namely - their lives. They left it on the altar of the Fatherland and I think that we owe them respect, honor, worship and to be their worthy heirs. This was told to journalists by the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova in Koprivshtitsa, where she participated in the solemn celebration of the 149th anniversary of the April Uprising, BTA indicated.
The price of freedom is always high, said Kiselova. In her words, this means valor, reason, justice, in certain cases - a strong backbone, and always with a thought for the common good.
The courage of the Aprilites, their self-sacrifice and faith oblige us to follow their great testament and always uphold the justice, freedom, dignity and honor of Bulgaria, said yesterday the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova in her speech during a solemn ceremony in Koprivshtitsa on the occasion of the 149th anniversary of the April Uprising. Whatever we say on this historic day, it will not be enough to express our respect for the heroes of the April Uprising and our national liberation movement. It is difficult to find the most accurate words to describe the spirit and self-sacrifice of the participants in those dramatic events of the spring of 1876, Kiselova noted.
