In the last 100 years, the class conflict has never been more acute than today. This was said by Ivan Takov, chairman of the BSP - Sofia and deputy chairman of the BSP, in his speech on the occasion of May 1. He spoke to many socialists and leftists who gathered on the traditional holiday of Labor Day and international workers' solidarity, as well as the left-wing press and left-wing movements around the world. The rally-concert with the motto "For social justice in a solidary Bulgaria" was organized by the National Council of the BSP, the City Organization of Socialists in Sofia and the newspaper "Duma" and took place on the Summer Stage in Borisova Garden. The socialists were also addressed by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Atanas Zafirov, the Chairman of the Youth Union of the Bulgarian Socialist Party - Sofia Martin Velev, the Chairman of the Podkrepa Trade Union (KT) Dimitar Manolov, the Vice-President of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions (KITUB) Ognyan Atanasov, the Editor-in-Chief of the Duma Newspaper Tanya Dzhadjeva and Veska Sabeva, Chairman of the Association of Parents of Children with Epilepsy and Deputy Chairman of the National Council for People with Disabilities.
"Today, more than ever, we need solidarity and mutual support between the people who, with their work, develop Bulgaria and create a future for our children, said Ivan Takov. - Because we must admit that in the last 100 years, the class conflict has never been more acute than today. They call it a trade war, rearmament, adoption of a single European currency... Many names for a single fact, which we call in two words "class conflict". Today we find ourselves in a very difficult class conflict. And solidarity is the only way out of this difficult situation. Solidarity within society and solidarity between societies, between peoples".
The Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party - Sofia noted that solidarity, like peace and labor, are a fundamental part of the value system of socialism. "It, socialism, is our future," said Ivan Takov. - A future based on social justice, on state protection for workers, on fair pay for the work done, on support and assistance for every person who has fallen into difficulty. And here I want to be categorically clear - we are talking about values, not charity! It is time to once again oppose the enormous inequalities, the inhuman exploitation, the alienation and the aggression. 100 years after the introduction of the 8-hour working day and half a century after the establishment of the 5-day working week, we still feel on our shoulders the wild capitalist exploitation with its unscrupulousness and greed".
The Deputy Chairman of the BSP was categorical that Bulgaria needs a change of the system. "This is our mission today in the joint government. A new economic basis is needed - for a modern, socialist and legal state, with a large middle class of working, educated and successful citizens. Deep changes are necessary in the mode of production, in the distribution of goods. The BSP, as a true left-wing party, has a duty to the working Bulgarians. But let it be clear to everyone that we will not stop fighting to defend our causes and fulfill our missions - to restore the rights of workers, to protect their labor, to provide them with a decent life.
Ivan Takov congratulated the newspaper "Duma" and the left-wing press on the holiday and wished journalists in these difficult times for free speech to continue to defend their positions with dignity, not to be afraid of censorship and pressure. "Each of us carries freedom of speech within us and judges for himself whether he has the courage to express what he thinks, he said. - Therefore, I wish journalists and publishers to be brave, bold, honest and to have the strength to truly defend the left.".
