A super-modern laboratory for the production of mephedrone was discovered in the village of Emona - 1

A high-tech laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs was discovered in the village of Emona during an operation by the Directorate of Drug Control and under the supervision of the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office. Three people were detained - two Polish citizens aged 51 and 61 and one local person.

The narcotic substances are without analogues to date, they were intended for the Polish market, said District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev at a media briefing, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

According to Radi Penev, head of the 12th department at the Directorate of Drug Control, information about a laboratory for narcotics in the village of Emona was received at the beginning of the year. The two Poles rented a resort house in the settlement. The older one is criminally active, Penev said.

„Three people were detained at the time of production of the narcotic substances. So far, such technology has not been established, as well as of such capacity.“

Burgas District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev specified:

„In the last 10 years, such a laboratory has not been established. It is an unparalleled, modern laboratory. It was neutralized at the time when the technological process for the production of the synthetic drug, which is mephedrone, was underway.“

„The laboratory is of an extremely high class. The construction and the very technique used in the production of the synthetic drug are not Bulgarian. It was brought from another European country. Involved in the assembly of the laboratory and the subsequent chemical process, up to the production of amphetamines and its analogues, was a chemical engineer who has exceptional knowledge in chemistry and the illegal production of amphetamine.

The information about this laboratory came from colleagues from Poland. The Directorate of Drug Control and Prevention developed the information received, together with the Polish colleagues we came to this successful result.

The reactor itself, into which the precursors needed for the production of amphetamine are loaded, has a capacity of 100 liters. 30 liters of liquid amphetamine can be produced from them. After the synthesis of the synthetic drug is completed, 150 kg of high-quality amphetamine can be produced in the laboratory with one charge from these 30 liters.

In such actions, it is very important to establish a laboratory during the synthesis of the drugs themselves. One person, who is a Polish citizen, has been in Bulgaria for almost a year and has been criminally charged in Poland for exactly the same acts. Two more Polish citizens, who are not on the territory of Bulgaria and are in the process of being identified, are involved in this criminal activity.“

Interesting information about the detained chemist was shared by Radi Penev - years ago, when the network of one of the oil refineries in Burgas was being built, a Polish group that participated in the construction and installation itself, this chemical engineer was the leader of this group.

The actual work on identifying the laboratory and the individuals has been going on for two months, the prosecutor's office and the Directorate for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime have specified. A permanent measure of detention in custody has been issued against the three individuals.
