Journalist: Brendo could serve less than 10 years - 1

We are hardly an attractive prison destination. The conditions in our places of deprivation of liberty are not good. There is a well-prepared legal plan by Evelin Banev - Brendo to surrender himself and want to serve his sentences in our country. It is one thing to serve a sentence of 20 years, another to serve 10 years.

This was said by lawyer Dimitar Markovski in the show "Hello, Bulgaria" on "Nova TV".

Brendo prefers to serve his sentence here. Before appearing in front of the prison, he had submitted several requests to serve his sentence here. But they were refused because he was not here, journalist Kiril Borisov pointed out.

According to him, due to good behavior and work in prison, Brendo could serve less than 10 years.

Yesterday, the court decided that Brendo should serve his sentences from Romania and Italy in Bulgaria. "In Bulgaria, the sentences are grouped and the most severe is determined. This is what happened with Banev. But there is a possibility that these sentences can be grouped and the court can increase them. 10 years and six months is a serious sentence. The law obliges the period of detention to be deducted," explained the attorney. Markovski.

Journalist Kiril Borisov believes that the interesting cases are not about Brando's sentence, but about the murder of his partner, the kidnapping of his daughter and his escape and then his appearance in front of the Sofia prison.

Brendo was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking in Italy, 10 years and 6 months for the same in Romania, and in our country he received 6 years for money laundering.

The Sofia City Court changed the most severe sentence for Brando from 20 years in prison in Italy, because one of the crimes he is accused of did not appear in the Bulgarian Penal Code at the time of its commission. The law in Bulgaria now provides for a much lower sentence for the same - up to 10 years. Therefore, after the consolidation of the sentences, the most severe one remained - the one in Romania.

The time served in prison and the Italian arrest are deducted from the cocaine king's sentence. He mysteriously surrendered on June 24 last year after 5 years of searching. Since then, he has served 11 months. That is exactly the time he spent in custody in Italy in 2012, when he was arrested in our country at the request of Rome. He has a little over 8 years left, but after 4 years he will be able to request early release from prison, recalled "24 hours".
