Plamena Mitkova, Bulgaria's No. 1 athlete for 2024, became the champion in the long jump at the international indoor track and field tournament in Berlin (Germany), BTA reports. Ivaylo Roussenov's student jumped 6.85 meters in her fourth attempt and took the gold. Michaela Asani (Germany) finished second with 6.80 meters, and the Dutchwoman Pauline Hondema was third with 6.73. The Bulgarian's other successful attempts were 6.59, 6.60 and 6.63 meters.
The competition was held under the experimental new rules, according to which the rebound zone is 40 centimeters instead of the traditional 20. In the traditional measurement with a rebound zone of 20 centimeters, Mitkova came second with an equal personal record of 6.70 meters, and the victory went to Asani with 6.71. Third was Hondama also with 6.70 meters, the BFA reported.
