Albert Popov remained in 18th place in the first run of the men's slalom at the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Saalbach (Austria), BTA reports.
Popov covered the course in 1:01.45 minutes, after making some mistakes. He is 2.22 seconds behind leader Clement Noel, who recorded a result of 59:23 seconds.
The Frenchman, who is the Olympic champion from Beijing 2022 and leader in the provisional standings for the small crystal globe, had the first starting number.
After him, 19 hundredths is the Swiss Loic Meillard, and third is Atle Lee McGrath (Norway) with a deficit of 64 hundredths.
The world champion in the discipline from Courchevel 2023 Henrik Kristoffersen (Norway) is 11th with a time of 1:00.82 minutes.
The other Bulgarian, Kalin Zlatkov, started 49th, but failed to finish the first run.
