Kazakhstan warns: the Caspian Sea is on the verge of extinction - 1

The Caspian Sea is on the verge of extinction, the environmental problems associated with it are not should be ignored, said Kazakh President Kassam-Jomart Tokayev during the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which is being held in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

"We noted the importance of building the logistics potential of the Caspian Sea. At the same time, it is unacceptable to ignore its environmental problems. The sea is on the verge of extinction. The most important task is to protect its environment, flora and fauna. Concrete solutions must be developed to save the Caspian Sea. It is time to strengthen the interaction between scientists from the Turkic countries", quoted the head of state as saying in his press service.

Tokaev also expressed concern about the drying up of the Aral Sea and the desertification of its territory.

"The territory affected by the ecological disaster must be recultivated. It is important to use the water resources of transboundary rivers efficiently. For this purpose, it is necessary to apply water-saving technologies more widely," explained the head of state of Kazakhstan.

According to him, the climate situation on the planet as a whole is getting more complicated.

"The unusual heat, forest fires, droughts and floods that are happening in different parts of the world clearly confirm this trend. We are ready to strengthen our cooperation with the Turkic world on climate issues. This year, we plan to take an active part in the work of the COP29 climate conference, which will be held in Azerbaijan.
