Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that the alleged successor of the slain leader of “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah appears to have been liquidated, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Hashem Saffieddin, a senior Hezbollah official, was expected to take over leadership of the movement after Nasrallah's death.
„Hezbollah“ is an organization without a leader. Nasrallah was eliminated, his deputy is probably eliminated as well,” Gallant told officers at the army's northern command center.
„There is no one to make decisions, no one to act,” he said.
After Nasrallah's assassination, Safiyedin led “Hezbollah“ along with its deputy secretary-general, Naim Qassem, and was expected to be formally elected secretary-general, although no official announcement has yet been made.
Kassem said the group will choose a new secretary general and will announce it when it does.
