Ukraine launched a series of drones against Moscow and Western Russia, representatives of the local authorities announced today, adding , that there were no casualties in the attacks, nor serious material damage, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Russian air defenses have destroyed at least one drone aimed at Moscow, the mayor of the Russian capital Sergey Sobyanin said on the Telegram application.

According to initial information, there were no casualties or damage, and the wreckage fell in the Ramenskoe region of the Moscow Region.

Debris from drones caused short-lived fires in the Lipetsk region in western Russia, the regional governor reported in Telegram. No injuries were reported, he added.

The governors of Bryansk and Oryol regions, also in the western part of the country, reported that air defenses had destroyed several drones there.

Reuters has not been able to independently verify this information. So far, there has been no comment from Ukraine, the agency says.

Kiev has often reported in the past that Ukrainian airstrikes target critical infrastructure essential to Russia's war effort and that the strikes are in response to Moscow's ongoing attacks on Ukraine.

Russian officials often do not reveal the full extent of the damage caused by the attacks, particularly to military, transport or energy infrastructure, Reuters notes.

Late last night, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced that Russia was attacking the capital of Ukraine and urged people to stay in shelters.
