Almost all residents of Havana have electricity again as of yesterday afternoon, but several Cuban provinces remain without electricity after the major power outage that has affected the island for four days, reported AFP, quoted by BTA.
"According to data from the Havana Electric Company, 769,810 customers have electricity in Havana, which represents 89.3 percent of the total number," reported the official news portal "Cubadebate".
An accident at “Las Guiteras”, the country's main power plant, caused the system to crash on Friday.
In addition to the energy crisis, since Sunday evening the easternmost part of the country has been covered by tropical storm "Oscar", which caused damage, but so far there are no victims.
