US President Donald Trump will not send US troops to Ukraine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, quoted by Reuters and BNR.

The US defense secretary also said to journalists in Germany that he would insist that European allies spend more on defense when he meets with them this week.

"The European continent deserves to be free from all aggression, but those in the neighborhood should invest the most in such individual and collective defense," Hegseth said.

The US defense secretary also said that he was working with Congress to increase overall US defense spending and downplayed concerns about Elon Musk's upcoming audit, which aims to uncover billions of dollars in abuses in Pentagon.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant will visit Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump said, quoted by "Reuters" and NOVA.

Besant will visit Kiev to discuss a deal related to Ukraine's rare earth mineral deposits.

Besant will be the first ministerial-level representative of Donald Trump's new administration to visit the country.

Both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump have expressed interest in a pact that would give the US access to Ukraine's rare earth mineral reserves in exchange for continued US support in the war with Russia.
